How to Travel Across Singapore Hassle-Free?

Singapore is one of the most commuter-friendly countries around. Theyoffer a lot of options for you to easily get around the city. From MRT to bus charter service, name it, they’ve got it.To know what works best for you, here is a rundown of the country’s various transportation options:

  • ·         MRT
Singapore’s Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system is said to be your fastest option to get around the city, aside from taxis. The MRT system of Singapore is the one of the cleanest in the world. In addition to that, it also provides scenic views of the city. Singapore’s website also offers a downloadable train route map for tourists to help map out their travel routes while in the city.

Because the train system has access to almost every part of Singapore, it is the most preferred mode of transportation in the country. You can opt to use the EZ-Link card for your train rides (it can also be used for bus rides) if you are staying for a couple of days. This is almost the same as that of Hong Kong’s Octopus Card. So if you are already familiar with that, then using Singapore’s EZ-Link card will be as easy as a breeze.

  • ·         Bus
There are two bus service network provider in Singapore—the SBS Transit and the SMRT. The former is considered as the country’s major public bus service operator. They are conveniently in operation all around the country. They also offer the Nite Owl, a service that operates during the wee hours of the night, during Fridays, Saturdays, and eve of Public Holidays.

The SMRT, on the other hand, is Singapore’s first mass-rapid transit operator. They are operating on the northern parts of the country. They also offer a night bus service called the NightRider.

And as mentioned earlier, Singapore’s bus system also accepts payment through the EZ Link card.

  • ·         Taxi
Getting a cab in Singapore is easy but its best of you hail them on designated taxi stands. It is best to ride a cab when travelling in groups or if you are carrying heavy load or luggage. There are four major taxi companies in the country: Comfort Transportation, Premier Taxis Pte Ltd, Maxi Cab, and SMRT Taxis.

  • ·         Airport Transfers

Airport transfers are also popular in Singapore. Most of the time an option for airport transfers is offered by the travel agency where you booked your flight. And if you availed of tour packages, this might also be included, along with the bus charter service. But for those who didn’t avail prior, airport transfers are available in Changi Airport.
