What are the Most Popular Wedding Flowers?

There are a few flowers that are commonly picked for use in many weddings. Of course there are always the exotic options available that are out of the norm, but some of the most popular wedding flowers will be what we cover below.

The figment of many fantasies, love stories, and movie and television dramas. Metaphorically denotes emotions of love, cherishing, and desire while eliciting the essence of beauty and passion. Most assuredly this is the flower that has evolved symbolically to mean true love.
One of the most spectacular reasons for the decision to go with the all-star rose is the almost endless variety that are available year round. From the classic rose which elicits thoughts of love and passion to variegated and color tipped roses in every shade imaginable, the options are nearly endless.

Tulips are a very popular when it comes to spring time weddings because they are a symbol of newness and freshness. Tulips, like roses, also carry meanings associated with the different colors. From the “I love you” of red to the “your smile is like sunshine” of yellow, the array of meanings and feelings the beautiful colors bring to your wedding are as diverse as colors.
This gentle and refreshing flower also brings the feeling of newness, as in a new life begun.

The Calla Lily is one of the most graceful and refined wedding flowers and tend to lend an air of elegance and beauty to any wedding. The bloom in unlike any other and offers a distinctive air to the wedding and / or the reception. The innocence of white is often embraced for weddings while some will lean toward the orange, red, or burgundy.


Available year round this slightly more exotic flower is likely to be quite costly at particular times of the year. Not a cheaper flower by any means because of its delicate nature, the calla lily cost should be considered when selecting it for your wedding plans.

A popular flower for the more rustic or ranch type wedding is the sunflower. Often used in more modernized and weddings designed with originality, the sunflower is a blossom of color and exudes happiness and smiles just because of the general nature of the flower itself.  The bright yellow symbol of loyalty and trust can also be found in a variety of dyed sunflower shades. Thought the reds and blues may look a bit different at first, they also add a distinct originality to any wedding.

Orchids are on the more exotic choices for wedding which symbolize charm, maturity, and refinement. As like many other flowers, the orchid has symbolism and meanings associated to them. The Chinese meaning of the orchid is “many children.” This could be a blessing for some marrying couples and not so much for others, if you are superstitious at all.

Gardenias are enjoyed by some because their immense fragrant beauty. These pricey blooms are easily damaged and browned and can therefore lead to a very expensive wedding very quickly, if this is the only flower of choice. More often used as a floating flower for decoration or for a secondary flower in bouquets, the scent of the gardenia is beautiful and refreshing for any bride’s special day.
