What is a Semi Detached Terraced House?

When the time comes for you to be on your own, you will have to start looking for a home. That home can be a condominium or an HDB flat deep in the heart of the city. However, in time, people tend to outgrow apartments and condo units. When a person reaches a certain milestone in life like getting a new career or welcoming a new family member, that person may need a home that fits well with this life change. He or she may need a wider space to live in, a bigger home. When that time comes, there are other types of houses. A terraced house, a semi-detached house and a detached house are just some of them. You may be wondering what these homes are. Do not worry. We will provide a rundown.

A detached house is the most known type of house. This is a stand-alone house. Usually, the house is at the center of the lot and it is surrounded by open spaces on all sides. The spaces can be transformed into a various things. You can create and maintain a garden. You can have a shed for your work tools. You can also expand your home by building more rooms. The detached house is the most customizable of the three types of homes. It is also the most private as there would be distance between you and your neighbor.

A semi-detached house, occasionally referred to in Western countries as se-tenant houses, consists of a pair of houses built side by side. These houses are joined by a parting wall and both are mirror copies of each other. Semi-detached houses have three open sides (part of the front, part of the rear and either the left or the right side of the lot). The spaces on the other side of the lot belong to the families or tenants living in the other house. Living in a semi-detached house means you will have to be careful of disturbing your neighbors on the other side of the parting wall. You will have to lessen the TV volume. You will have to think first before shouting. You will have to think of these things for you to have a good relationship with your neighbor.

Terraced houses are continuous row of houses with open spaces at the front and back. These houses are commonly found in suburbs. A terraced house is smaller or leaner than other types of houses. All terraced houses belonging in one row have the same appearance. Most houses have two parting walls, one on each side. The two houses at the end of the row have one parting wall. Like those living in a semi-detached house, those who live in a terraced house will have to take note of their neighbors next door. If you live there, be sure not to make noise or create distraction.

There are many forms but all of them means one thing: they are home.
