Buying LED lights in Singapore

Doing some maintenance and repairs to your home? Apart from checking on the pipes, the paint and other fixtures, be sure to check on the state of your light fixtures as well. Many homes still use incandescent or fluorescent bulbs, which are not the best option anymore. These days, it's best to go LED.

LED lights are generally known to be the most energy-efficient option in the market--this is its main selling point, and the main reason people make the big switch to LED. According to experts, refular bulbs operate at only 20% efficiency. This means that out of all the electrical energy consumed by a traditional bulb, only 20% gets converted to light. The rest is converted to other forms like heat. The opposite is true for LED lighting. These operate at 80% to 90% energy efficiency.

LED lights also have a longer shelf life. Unlike ordinary flourescent bulbs that burn out as soon as it is unusable, LED lights tend to gradually dim instead, signaling that you need to replace the bulb soon.  LED lights have a life expectancy of up to 100,000 hours--which means 11 years of continuous operation. If you use an LED light for 8 hours a day, it would be 20 years or so before you would need to buy a replacement.

One of the best features of LED lighting is that it can be adapted to any design. Many designers have made chandeliers, fixtures, installations and the like using LED lights—which makes these a lot more cost efficient and much safer for the environment. You get a lot more use out of your fixtures since you don’t need to replace the bulbs as often. Mood lighting is also becoming extremely popular thanks to LED lights since it just goes to show that a little extra lighting in a room doesn’t have to be very expensive at all.

As such, LED lights have a host of environmental benefits--they contain no toxic materials or chemicals. Some fluorescent bulbs contain materials like mercury which have been shown to cause great harm to those who may ingest it after a period of time. They help reduce your carbon footprint. They save material in production. They are extremely durable so you don't need to keep replacing them. They do not produce any radiation or UV emissions either.

These days, LED lights Singapore are very commonplace. Many establishments now use LED lights as a means to lower their operational expenses--specifically translating to savings on their light bill. You can buy LED lights in Singapore at any reputable hardware store. It's also very easy to install and replace your old bulbs.
